Sr Tempest Engineer

SUMMARY

Has responsibility for all aspects of the assigned TEMPEST Project and must assure that products and equipment conform to established standards by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Reviews project schedules.
  • Prepares test plans in accordance with the current National TEMPEST Standard.
  • Works with the TEMPEST Manager on scheduling and preparing the Equipment-Under Test (EUT) for testing.
  • Ensures that the EUT is installed in the shielded enclosure in accordance with the test plan and current National TEMPEST Standards.
  • Verifies that the EUT is operational in all its test modes.
  • Verifies that the detection system test equipment is calibrated and operating correctly.
  • Performs test setup ambient measurements.
  • Performs Detection System Sensitivity measurements.
  • Performs Facility Certification measurements.
  • Conducts TEMPEST tests in accordance with the approved test plan and the current National TEMPEST Standard.
  • Maintains TEMPEST project logbook.
  • Posts the test results using the appropriate software.
  • Analyzes the test results.
  • Makes and/or recommends appropriate modifications, (i.e. installs filters, electronic components, shielding, etc.) necessary for the EUT to meet the TEMPEST requirements.
  • Works with the TEMPEST Manager, Project Engineer and Mechanical Engineers on all TEMPEST Critical Features and modifications.
  • Verifies that the modifications perform as required.
  • Prepares TEMPEST test reports in accordance with the current National TEMPEST Standard.
  • Assists the Project Engineer in preparing the Critical Features List and Configuration Baseline.
  • Reviews all appropriate drawings.
  • Manages the activities of other lab personnel assigned to them.
  • Attends project/engineering meetings as required.
  • Works with the Manufacturing Manager for scheduling of production TEMPEST tests as required.
  • Assists the TEMPEST Manager with the preparation of the Endorsed TEMPEST Products List paperwork.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from a four-year college or university, 15 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Must be able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Must be able to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Must be able to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY

Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Certified TEMPEST Professional II
  • Security Clearance or ability to obtain one.
