Production Planner

Location: Columbia Maryland

SUMMARY

Receives, reviews and releases manufacturing orders to operations using a systematic process to assure that customer orders are produced and delivered in accordance with the customer's requested delivery schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Generates and releases manufacturing jobs for customer orders.
  • Determines if there are products/parts shortages for orders that have been released for assembly, takes actions to expedite missing products/parts.
  • Enters data into the company ERP system at the close of a production run to produce the shipping pick list for the products manufactured.
  • Issues required components to orders from floor stocking locations.
  • Keeps an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all material on the production floor.
  • Returns material, not used during a production run and not allocated to another job, to the warehouse inventory in a timely manner ensuring that the material is available to fulfill other orders.
  • Reviews customer contracts/purchase orders for special shipping and labeling instructions.
  • Reviews ENC’s/BOM change report/Temporary Deviations and updates production jobs accordingly.
  • Reviews OVAR report to correct production jobs for close.
  • Provides shipping personal shipping information on all orders being shipped.
  • Makes special shipping labels depending on the customer needs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

High Skills:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
