SUMMARY

Assembles machines, equipment and their subassemblies following drawings, documents, written procedures and verbal communication by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Uses hand tools and power tools to assemble units according to drawing and/or written procedures.
  • Follow the established assembly procedures with sure accuracy and quality.
  • Drills, taps, or reams holes.
  • Align components, screw or rivet them together.
  • Performs or assists in performing pretests and in-process functional testing of products and/or subassemblies.
  • Performs solder of printed circuit boards, cables, etc. if needed.
  • Tests or assists in testing operation of completed products.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or eight to ten years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively among the group and co-employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
